Okay, maybe I was too quick to say summer is over.... We had one more weekend getaway planned. Ronnie came home a few weeks back and said that he had to go to Davis-Monthan (Tucson, AZ) for some training. I quickly booked our tickets to go with him -- we have a lot of friends stationed there!!!!
Last Friday, the girls and I hopped on a plane and met Ronnie in Tucson. It was a whirlwind trip, filled with friends, sight-seeing, and swimming. On my friend, Kim's suggestion we stayed at the Westin La Paloma, up in the foothills. Oh man, did this place deliver! Talk about exactly what we needed to bridge our stay from Cabo. There was even a slide at the pool (WHAT?!?!?)
We had to drag the girls out of the pool and finally get them in bed. Saturday was going to be a busy one!
We woke up first thing and headed for the Saguaro National Park. Mainly, because the desert is beautiful at sunrise, but more importantly because it's pretty darned hot here.
The park is so cool and so different than what the girls have seen before. The girls did the Junior Ranger program and learned a lot about the plants and animals that call the Sonoran Desert home.
Soon, it was time to head back to the hotel -- we had guests on their way to meet us! It was a mini-Osan/Tuscon reunion of sorts. We saw the Maclins, the Pataks, the Stockman girls, the Moughans, and the Brunsons. We spent the afternoon at the pool splashing around and catching up. Before long it was time for dinner. The girls had a fun "pizza party sleepover" while the parents hung out and chatted on the porch.
Unfortunately, Sunday morning came too quickly and it was time for us to give hugs goodbye and head to the airport. I only wish we had more time to see more people..... Next time, my Tucson friends.
